It’s the First Day of Fall! 3 Great Autumn Stops in Costa Mesa

Posted on September 22, 2016 | 8:50am | Travel Costa Mesa

It’s the first day of fall! Though Costa Mesa is known for year-round sunshine, Southern California still cools down as we hit the fall season. Locals reach deep into the closet to grab that fuzzy sweater or long boots you can only wear here for a few months. You can observe dads clearing out their driveways with leaves that are starting to pile up using leaf blowers. If you don’t have one yet, BestofMachinery can provide you with the list of the best leaf blowers for you.

And, we still get in the mood for fall by enjoying cool-weather eats and drinks and cozy spots to curl up. With the fall days quickly approaching, we picked a few stops that will definitely get you in the autumn mood.

Vitaly Caffé

One of the best things you can get when the weather cools down is a nice, hot cup of coffee to warm your insides. Vitaly Caffé is located in the heart of The CAMP shopping center, and locals rave about their espresso and coffee drinks. Choose a decadent coffee like their choquito, an espresso with Nutella and whipped cream. You can also find Nutella in their chococino, a Nutella and chocolate cappucino. With a variety of hot coffee drinks and teas, not to mention amazing sandwiches and gelatos, Vitaly is a great spot to relax with a warm cup…and The CAMP has lots of sitting spots to cuddle up with a cup and watch the world go by. Seabirds Kitchen

The fall vegetable harvest is bountiful in Southern California, and it’s an amazing time to go veggie. Vegetarian and vegan restaurant Seabirds Kitchen at The LAB Anti-Mall is the perfect place to taste autumn veggies like Brussel sprouts, squash and sweet potatoes. Seabirds is doing amazing food and succeeding at trying to improve, evolve and push the boundaries of vegan cuisine. Serving unique dishes like fried avocado tacos and BBQ “Jack” sliders made from jackfruit, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike will find something to satisfy their tastes. Try the amazing Brussel spouts dish, where they’re roasted and tossed with fried garlic, lime and dijon mustard. Or get some fall veggie comfort food with the butternut enchiladas – butternut squash, spinach, black bean and mushroom enchiladas with roasted pasilla pepper sauce, almond feta and Seabirds special sauce. Indoors at The Triangle

Inside the Triangle entertainment complex, Starlight Cinemas is a locals’ fave for movie nights, and a perfect spot to cozy up indoors on a cool fall night. As a host venue for the Newport Beach Film Festival, Starlight will get first-run or only-run films during the festival. The theatre offers discount days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when movies are just $5 all day. And after the movie, the Triangle offers a variety of different restaurants and bars – indoors and outdoors, so you can choose which suits best depending on the weather. If you really want to get your blood boiling, visit the exciting new multilevel hotspot Time Nightclub, where the temperature’s sure to be very high. (pc: locale magazine)
