Event Description

The annual Scarecrow and Pumpkin Festival will take place on the weekend of Oct. 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Goat Hill Junction train lot in Fairview Park.

The Scarecrow Festival is a historical event first held in 1938 but discontinued in 1941 because of World War II. The free event was revived last year in conjunction with the city’s 60th anniversary.

Presented by the Orange County Model Engineers, the Scarecrow Festival features train rides, Jerry’s Wood-Fired Dogs food truck, face painting, children’s activities, a pumpkin patch, and an exhibition of scarecrows entered into the scarecrow contest.

The scarecrows are created by individuals, businesses and groups throughout the community and will be judged in categories such as Best in Show, People’s Choice, spookiest, and humorous. The last day to enter the scarecrow contest is Sept. 26.

Fairview Park is located on Placentia Avenue between Adams Avenue and Wilson Street.

For more information about the event or to register for the scarecrow contest, call (949) 436-5460 or visit www.costamesahistory.org.
