Fans of last year’s performance of the Verdi Requiem will rejoice in a rare opportunity to hear John Alexander conduct Verdi’s dramatic and passionate yet seldom-heard Te Deum. In his debut performance conducting both Pacific Chorale and Pacific Symphony, Assistant Conductor Robert Istad takes the podium to lead us in discovering Howells’ Hymnus Paradisi, one of the 20th century’s most beautiful depictions of Paradise. Finally, Poulenc’s exuberant, irresistible Gloria provides a jazzy contrast and a grand finale to Pacific Chorale’s 2014-2015 season.
