Widely recognized as a chief architect of the world music movement, Zakir Hussain received a Grammy Award in the Best Contemporary World Music category for Global Drum Project with drummer Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead, Latin jazz percussionist Giovanni Hidalgo and Nigerian percussionist Sikiru Adepoju. He has also participated in historic collaborations, including Shakti, Remember Shakti, Diga, Planet Drum, and his ever-changing musical feast, Masters of Percussion.
