Murals & Street Art in Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa is known for its world-class performing arts center and an Art Walk featuring famous artists like Joan Miro and Isamu Noguchi. But the city is also home to some pretty amazing local art installations. From vibrant, fun murals to painted utility boxes, Costa Mesa expresses its local culture by taking brush to...well, whatever canvas can be found! Here's more reasons to understand why Costa Mesa is the City of the Arts®.

Murals

Walk along a street, stop by a shopping center, or drive along the freeway in Costa Mesa and you just might spot a mural. From Shepard Fairey’s “Welcome Home” (map) to Travel Costa Mesa's commissioned “Costa Mesa Bloom” by Aaron Glasson (map), murals add vibrancy and personality to our city.

Installations

From their monthly Makers Mart to a rotating collection at The ARTery, the LAB encourages artists and dreamers to create. You'll find a variety of Instagram-worthy art installations throughout the campus.

Utility Boxes

As part of the City of Costa Mesa Cultural Arts Committee’s dedication to public art, they selected local artists to paint the city’s utility boxes with their own designs.
