The Orange County Children’s Book Festival is a one-day event held at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, and it has something wonderful and exciting for children of all ages to experience. The book festival includes more than 100 authors, illustrators, storytellers and entertainers, along with more than 90 exhibitors. At least 30,000 people visit the Orange County Children's Book Festival each year. It is the largest free children’s book festival in the world and promotes literacy by featuring books and activities for kids in Orange County.
Many popular authors attend the Orange County Children’s Book Festival each year and read from their books on stage or in an exhibitor’s booth. Famous authors who have visited the festival include Molly Shannon, Greg Taylor, Robin Priess Glasser and many more.
A favorite attraction every year is the children’s craft corner where children can make their own book markers, visors and other keepsake items. The Orange County Children's Book Festival also features an abundance of family fun activities such as face painting, crazy hair styling, an animal petting area, musicians, dancers, balloons, readings, and prize drawings for a full set of books from the participating authors. This family event includes an Illustrators Stage, an Animal Stage, a huge Main Stage and a really rockin’ Teen/YA Stage. Parking is free. The festival occurs in October every year at Orange Coast College.
