We Heart South Coast Plaza

Posted on June 26, 2009 | 9:00am

South Coast Plaza recently had an event for bloggers and while I couldn’t make it, I started thinking about just how amazing this shopping resort really is. In addition to having the top stores in the world (every luxury brand from Chanel to Gucci to Balenciaga is here), I feel nostalgic when I think about SCP. Growing up in Orange County, it was the place I visited as a kid to go on the carousel or see Santa. I bought my prom dresses here and was exposed to culture at the Performing Arts Center. Then there’s the new Segerstrom Hall, world class spas and so many of my favorite restaurants (Charlie Palmer is a must see). What the Segerstroms have done for Orange County, and all of the millions who pass through South Coast Plaza, is pretty mind boggling. Since I’ve been on a shopping hiatus in ’09 I really need to get down there soon.

Marché Moderne Review

Posted on June 12, 2009 | 9:00am

This is a place that I found through Housewives of Orange County. I think on the show, Gretchen went out with Lynn to dine at this place.

Well, talk about a good French cuisine for a reasonable price. I went here for lunch, and they have a three course prix-fixe menu for around $20-25 per person, and you get a choice of appetizer, entree, and dessert.

Not bad if you ask me. Read More

Going Raw in Costa Mesa

Posted on May 26, 2009 | 9:00am

I’m going raw! Ok well, not quite, but occasionally I love a totally raw meal. There is something to be said for guilt-free, delicious food. A few months ago I had the pleasure of dining at 118 Degrees in Costa Mesa. It’s a relatively small bistro in a strip mall right off of Bristol near South Coast Plaza. All of the dishes are living and organic and prepared beautifully. Read More

The Rainforest Café Restaurant Review

Posted on May 19, 2009 | 9:00am

The Rainforest Café at South Coast Plaza offers far more than simply good food and drinks.  Enjoy a full dining experience that includes entertainment for any age and any interest.  They offer adult entertainment at the bar with streaming sports games along with the many attractions for the younger diners; from the animal wild ‘life’ and simulated storms to the fish acquariums, the décor seems more like an escape into the jungle than a family, friend or birthday outing.

The service was above adequate and any fault was certainly made up for in energy.  Our waitress’ guidance about beverages and entrees to try was additionally helpful.  I was impressed by her ability to multi-task between our table and many of the other families in her area. Read More

Arts and Shopping in Costa Mesa

Posted on May 11, 2009 | 9:00am

Saturday, Joseph and I drove up to Orange County to stay with Allison, and help her with her fashion show on Sunday. On the way, we stopped at South Coast Plaza. It is the premiere shopping center in Southern California and Orange County.

Since it wasn’t open yet, we parked and decided to walk around a bit. Luckily, there was a walking bridge that extended from the shopping center into the city! Everything was so cool and artistic, but interestingly strange. As you can see, I got “lost” in all of these bush shrubs. Read More
