A Regal Themed Mother’s Day at the Hilton OC/Costa Mesa

Posted on April 7, 2010 | 9:00am

Who better to be crowned royalty than mom? On Sunday, May 9th from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m, the Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa is hosting a regal-themed brunch celebration “Queen Mother for a Day”. All the royal appointments will be in place and mom will be treated in the utmost of sovereign style from the moment she exits her chariot.

The reign of each Mother begins as she is greeted by imperial trumpet revelers and escorted down the red carpet by royal palace guards. During this magnificent procession, each mother will receive a flower as a token of love and appreciation. The centerpiece of this majestic event will include a custom-built royal throne fit for a queen that will be constructed in the lobby of the Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa. The throne will serve as a regal stage for families to enjoy a one-of-a-kind photo opportunity. Once atop the throne, mother will be presented with a bejeweled crown and scepter to complete the sovereign setting. After receiving the photo, mothers will then enjoy an exquisite and fun-filled brunch. Read More

South Coast Farms CSA is now available for pick-up at Old Vine Café, located at The LAB in Costa Mesa!

CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a relationship between a farm and its community. It is a great way for people to support their local farm in a direct way. South Coast Farms is a family-owned, certified organic farm in San Juan Capistrano, owned by George Kibby since 1997. He farms 25 acres in San Juan, and has been farming for over 20 years. South Coast Farms CSA program started in 2000 with just 12 members, and we now grow for over 350 local families!

South Coast Farms CSA is available for pick-up every other Thursday at Old Vine Cafe. All financial commitments are handled by South Coast Farms.

Flame Broiler Restaurant Review

Posted on April 6, 2010 | 9:00am

Flame Broiler has numerous locations all over Orange County, but the one I went to was on Anton and Ave of the Arts in Costa Mesa.  They are a newer location and mainly cater to the people that work in the surrounding offices.  Having heard such great things about this teriyaki place, I decided to finally try it for myself.

Flame Broiler prides themselves on being a healthy option.  Upon walking into the restaurant, I noticed numerous signs that say “no frying, no MSG, no trans fat, and no skin”.  I don’t think fast food can get any better than that.  Glancing over the menu, I noticed they only had a handful of choices, which makes my life just a bit easier.  They had veggie, beef, chicken, and rib options.  You can get it either in a bowl or a plate.  The bowl comes with just rice and the plate comes with a salad and fruit.
