It’s National Relaxation Day, which means it’s time to set that growing pile of work aside, kick back and practice some self-care – at least for a few minutes. Whether you have a full day or just a lunch break to dedicate to relaxation, there’s plenty to find in Costa Mesa. You may even just find us taking a break with one of these National Relaxation Day stops!

Take a Spa Day

From facials and body wraps to Himalayan hot stone massages, pedicures, lash extensions and airbrush tanning, Nordstrom Spa has it all. The spa is located within the Nordstrom department store in South Coast Plaza, but don’t let the high-traffic location fool you – tranquility is just a doorway away. Services are available a la carte or in packages for the ultimate relaxation experience.

Stretch it Out

Find your center at one of Costa Mesa’s yoga studios like Ra Yoga, Yogaworks, CorePower and Spectra, among others. Each studio offers a different focus and yoga experience. While CorePower and Yogaworks are perhaps the most recognizable names, Ra Yoga’s class schedule includes a focus on mediation and mindfulness classes and events; and Spectra yoga offers aerial yoga and full body fitness classes in addition to its traditional yoga offerings,

Take a Walk

Reconnect with nature in one of Costa Mesa’s several parks. Canyon Park, Fairview Park and Talbert Regional Park all offer scenic nature trails where you can quiet your mind and enjoy the great outdoors. Both Fairview Park and Talbert Regional Park offer more than 200 acres of public land for biking, walking and running. As you make your way through either, keep your eye out for native California birds and wildlife as they dart between wildflowers and oak trees, or bring a book to relax in one of the open grass spaces dispersed throughout. Canyon Park offers a shorter walk at 1.45 acres but an equally scenic view of a small wooded canyon near the city’s Westside.

Wine or Beer Tasting

What better way to finish your day of relaxation than with a leisurely happy hour. There are several locations to find both wine and beer tasting in Costa Mesa. For wines, try Wine Lab at The CAMP, which has a rotating list of wine flights and wine by the glass along with cheese plates and small bites. Just around the corner you’ll find Gunwhale Ales and Barley Forge Brewing Co. where you can try a flight of West Coast beers. Barley Forge has a full menu of small bite and dinner options to match your flight, while Gunwhale Ales welcomes local food trucks.

Treat Yourself

If retail therapy helps you unwind, try one of Costas Mesa’s shopping destinations like South Coast Plaza, The LAB and The CAMP or SOCO and The OC Mix. Each one offers a unique collective of shops. At South Coast Plaza you’ll find one of the highest concentrations of high-end designer boutiques under one roof. The LAB and The CAMP are collections of local boutiques, eateries and relaxing outdoor lounge areas. Head to SOCO and The OC Mix for boutiques, home design inspiration and great outdoor ambiance.
