Crystal Cove Tidepools

Purple and orange sea stars cling to a rocky surface at the edge of a tide pool in Crystal Cove tidepools, surrounded by wet sand, shallow water, and hints of green algae in the background.

Get up close and personal with Southern California’s sea life at the Crystal Cove Tide Pools. Crystal Cove State Park is known for its beautiful beaches and unique historic bungalows, but the tidepools aren’t to be missed either! Each day at low tide, rocks are revealed with pools of ocean water trapped along the shoreline. Those pools house a thriving habitat of sea life including sea stars, anemone, abalone, sea snails, urchins and crabs, to name a few.

There are four tidepools to found at Crystal Cove – Reef Point, Rocky Bight, Pelican Point and Treasure Cove. Tidepool exploration is the perfect family activity to get to know the diverse Southern California coast.
