Event Description

The sun will be shining extra bright as Segerstrom Center for the Arts presents Gustafer Yellowgold's Show, part pop rock concert and part animated picture book, February 21 & 22 in Samueli Theater as part of the Family Series. For his Center premiere, Gustafer Yellowgold will introduce Orange County audiences to his many great stories by performing highlights from his past six albums in a special show best described as a “musical moving storybook.” The New York Times calls it “A cross between ‘Yellow Submarine’ and Dr. Seuss” and Entertainment Weekly praises “…The most infectious original songs. It’s like tapping into some pleasure center in the brain – both adult and kid…absurdly
appealing. Grade: A.”
Groovy Gustafer Yellowgold is a friendly fellow who came from the Sun and landed in the Minnesota woods.

Illustrator/songwriter/performer Morgan Taylor developed the Gustafer Yellowgold experience and since his creation in 2005, Gustafer Yellowgold has become an international phenomenon, headlining family-friendly venues all across the U.S., in London and Seoul, Korea.

Gustafer Yellowgold himself is a friendly creature who came to Earth from the sun and is living out an explorer’s life in a slightly psychedelic version of the Minnesota woods. Gustafer Yellowgold’s show is a multi-media performance of live music, animated illustrations and storytelling. With its unique crossover appeal, the show has been the wild-card opening act for Wilco and The Polyphonic Spree. Gustafer has appeared off-Broadway in his own productions of Gustafer Yellowgold’s Mellow Sensation and Gustafer Yellowgold’s Infinity Sock.

Gustafer Yellowgold's Show is recommended for children ages 4 – 8. Tickets are $20 and are now available online. The performance on Sunday, February 22 at 1 p.m. will be sign-language interpreted.
