Newport Landing Whale Watching
309 Palm Street, Suite A, Newport Beach, CA, 92661
Newport Landing Whale Watching offers whale-watching tours every day of the year. December through April is the primary grey whale migration period and Newport Landing Whale Watching is ideally positioned to take advantage of the annual grey whale migration. During their migration, hundreds of grey whales surface within minutes of Newport Harbor and along the Laguna Beach coastline. May through November brings warmer waters and the opportunity to view blue whales, finback whales, thousands of huge pods of dolphins, seals, killer whales, sharks and many other marine creatures.
Newport Landing Whale Watching’s crew members are always available to provide educational information and answer questions during the cruise. The 70-ft. Ocean Explorer is the company’s primary whale-watching vessel, with two full walk-around decks, a full bar, a snack bar and two restrooms. The smaller Nautilus boat has an indoor snack bar with beverages and snacks available for purchase. The Nautilus also has both indoor and outdoor seating and people can view the whales from the top observation deck for picturesque photo opportunities. Newport Landing Whale Watching also offers group rates for the general public and for corporate events. Hours of operation are from 7 AM until 10 PM daily.
Newport Landing also offers sportfishing in half-day, ¾-day or overnight fishing trips. All trips are open to the general public. They offer several departure times during the day, catering to almost any schedule. Half-day trips average 5-6 hours in length and fish locally, from Long Beach to Dana Point. They can catch barracuda, halibut, sand bass, calico bass, red snapper, giant yellowtail, white sea-bass and many other species. Their ¾-day trips average 10 hours and fish over 40 miles of coastline, along with Catalina Island. Fishermen can catch yellowtail, barracuda, bonito, calico bass, sand bass, white sea-bass, halibut and yellowfin tuna. Greater varieties of fish are usually caught on the longer trips. The fleet has state-of-the-art electronics, spacious indoor/outdoor seating and full amenities including a full-service snack bar and kitchen.
