Tableau Kitchen and Bar, located in South Coast Plaza, is a team effort by Ed Lee (Wahoo's Fish Taco), John Park (Toast Kitchen + Bakery), and Don Takhata. The menu is full of interesting items for brunch and dinner. Start the day with a champagne flight and the chicken and waffles, or crab and asparagus quiche. Interesting dinner choices include Curry Mussels and a Persimmon Salad.
If you're more interested in a sandwich why not dive into the Roasted Eggplant Sandwich (fire roasted eggplant, arugula, mozzarella, roasted tomato, basil balsamic dressing, roasted garlic aioli, sourdough). Or maybe a cheeseburger - just don't call it a simple cheeseburger. Your tastebuds will approve of the combination of white american cheese, billionaire's bacon, sunny egg, kewpie mayo and umami ketchup.
Don't forget dessert! There are choices like Avacado Mousse, and Strawberry Lemon Meringue Pie. Chef John Park's desserts and pastries are legendary.
