Join us for free, all-ages block party to celebrate the opening of the 2025 California Biennial: Desperate, Scared, But Social from 11 AM to 9 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
Titled after the 1995 album by Orange County riot grrrl band Emily’s Sassy Lime, who are featured artists, the 2025 California Biennial takes youth—its awkwardness, radicality, resilience—as both theme and inspiration. Exercise your creativity and explore the exhibition; make risograph prints and zines; create screen-printed totes and posters; enjoy live music; and savor an assortment of food trucks and artist-inspired snacks at OCMA’s café, Verdant.
Ending this day full of creativity, curiosity and community, join us at 7 PM on Level 2 for a special concert featuring artists from the exhibition!
Lead sponsorship of Desperate, Scared, But Social is provided by Cheryl and Bruce Kiddoo. Supporting sponsorship is provided by Patrick Chen and Keqi Tang.
Lead sponsorship of the Orange County Young Curators Program is provided by the OCMA Visionaries. Sponsorship is provided by a grant from Bank of America. Additional support is provided by Michael J. Marcus.
