Yuja Wang is widely regarded as one of the most important artists of her generation, celebrated for both her extraordinary musicianship and her ability to captivate audiences of all ages. Her career took off in 2005 following a sensational debut with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Canada, prompting a local newspaper to declare, “A star is born.” Her international breakthrough came in 2007, when she stepped in at the last minute to perform Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, replacing the legendary Martha Argerich. Her rising star was further cemented when she was named Musical America’s Artist of the Year 2017, one of the most prestigious honors in classical music.
Founded in 1997, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) is renowned for its passion, creativity, and commitment to musical excellence. With a shared vision of being a free and international ensemble, MCO brings together 45 exceptional musicians from 20 different countries. This nomadic collective unites for specific tours across Europe and around the world. At the heart of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra’s artistry is a deep passion for chamber music, which is shared by all MCO musicians. The orchestra’s core repertoire lies in the Viennese Classical and early Romantic periods, while the orchestra also plays contemporary works and world premieres.
