5 Fun Spots for St. Patrick’s Day in Costa Mesa

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! While the history of March 17 is mostly forgotten, in today’s day and age it’s known as a night to go out with friends and enjoy some green beer and maybe even wear a bowler hat. You don’t need the luck of the Irish to find a great spot for happy hour, drinks or St. Patrick’s Day fun in Costa Mesa – that’s what we’re here for!

1. The Harp InnThis image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 336552756_156843257265976_5905526742398416230_n-1024x683.jpg

The Harp Inn is a pub on the westside of Costa Mesa. Calling themselves “The Most Authentic Irish Pub in Orange County,” their  St. Patrick’s event kicks off at 8 am (yes, in the morning!) and will continue throughout the day until midnight. Featuring a hearty breakfast menu and live music all day, they invite locals and visitors alike to join in the fun for as long as they want. The Harp Inn is located at 130 E. 17th Street.

A well-loved Costa Mesa karaoke spot, Durty Nelly’s is at 2915 Redhill Avenue. Discount shots of Jameson’s, themed green beer, karaoke, and a special menu are all part of Durty Nelly’s annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration. No reservations are needed, but we recommend arriving on time to secure a spot.

3. Patrick’s PubThis image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is o-1.jpg

Sometimes St. Patrick’s fun can be just hitting the local “dive bar,” and Patrick’s fits the bill. With 3 pool tables and friendly service, you’ll also find a jukebox, pool tables, foosball, shuffleboard, and darts. Patrick’s pub serves beer on tap on St. Patrick’s Day, with happy hour specials. Open until 2 a.m. at 2645 Harbor Boulevard.

While not all these stops have specific St. Paddy’s Day events, they are local favorites where good beers and atmospheres can make for a memorable night out.

  • Greencheek Brewery: A local brewery founded with a focus on beer, passion, and community.
  • Gunwhale Brewery: A brewery specializing in “Coastal Ales,” which toe the line between the European traditional brews and the bold West Coast styles.
  • The Salty Bear: Try beers infused with, in the words of the brewers, “California soul,” and conveniently located at The CAMP.
  • Bootlegger’s Brewery: Refresh and imbibe at this modern brewery nestled in the trendy LAB Anti-Mall.

Whatever you decide to do, have a fun and SAFE St. Patrick’s Day night!
