Holiday Events in Costa Mesa

Posted on December 10, 2013 | 10:24am | Travel Costa Mesa

The holiday season can come and go in a blur.  Between friends, family, shopping and everything else that revolves around the holidays, it’s difficult to find the time to actually enjoy them.

Holiday events can be some of the best parts of the holiday season.  It’s fun to gather with friends and family for festive celebrations.  There are several great events in Costa Mesa between now and Christmas, many of which are free to attend.  Get the most out of the season by enjoying some of these festive events in the City of the Arts.

South Coast Plaza Tree LightingThe South Coast Plaza Christmas Tree is a long-standing Costa Mesa tradition.  For over 30 years, a gigantic fir tree is erected and adorned with lights in Town Center Park from mid-November until after the New Year.  The tree is illuminated each night in December with thousands of lights.  It’s a great place to take a family photo!

OC Mix Holiday Party

The OC Mix and SoCo Collection are known for the weekly farmers’ market and eclectic mix of boutiques and restaurants.  This year, bring the entire family to the Mix on Thursday, December 12 for the Mix and Jingle at SoCo with a FREE screening of Elf, an ugly sweater contest, holiday music from Trevor Wesley and much more.  Santa will also be making an appearance on Saturday December 14, so be sure to have your wish list ready to go!

Snoopy House

One of the most popular holiday traditions in Costa Mesa is the annual Snoopy House display at Costa Mesa City Hall.  All of your favorite Peanuts characters come to life on December 13 to create a winter wonderland that’s fun for the whole family.  Be sure to come out to City Hall at 77 Fair Drive for the 47th year of the lighting ceremony and take part in the beloved annual event.

Blackmarket Bakery Open House

The holidays wouldn’t be complete without some sweet treats.  Fortunately, Blackmarket Bakery at the CAMP is hosting an open house on Saturday, December 14 from 10am-1pm.  Come sample delicious seasonal pastries, win raffle prizes and get discounts on some tasty gifts for that sweet tooth on your gift list.

A Christmas Carol

If you’re looking for some holiday performances to put you in a festive mood, see our blog about all of the upcoming performances at Segerstrom Center for the Arts and South Coast Repertory.  One of the can’t-miss shows of the season is Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at SCR.  The Christmas classic is another Costa Mesa tradition and has been performed each year for over 30 years.
